Nestlé Pull Greenpeace Ad From YouTube

Today, the world’s leading food and drinks company, Nestlé, had Greenpeace’s new video removed from YouTube. This is an apparent attempt to silence the truth that some of its most popular brands use palm oil from destroyed rainforests and peatlands. Turned out to be a bad move. The video has now gone viral. It’s out in the wild and can never be tamed.

Palm oil action in Finland

Before most of us even had our first cup of coffee this morning, 32 activists from Finland and Sweden were up and taking action at a palm oil diesel refinery in Porvoo, Finland. Neste Oil, an oil refining company that is largely owned by the Finnish government, has plans to rapidly expand over the next three years – to become the world’s largest consumer of palm oil. Dove parody gets results on Unilever palm oil policy

The Greenpeace campaign in Europe (that started with the Dove parody) to get Unilever to stop using the rainforest damaging palm oil has returned quick results.

Despite insisting a week ago that they wouldn’t be bounced into taking action, Unilever boss, Patrick Cescau performed a swift about turn today and announced that his company is supporting our call for a moratorium – a complete halt – on rainforest destruction in Indonesia. Read more »
