as a former member of the RNZN we have had numerous open days in the spot mentioned, all with no more security than some fences being put up to keep people away from the operational area of the port (as far as i could tell). this seems like a poor excuse from the ports to me, and my family and I are dissapointed as we were looking forward to touring the Rainbow Warrior.

yes, it is very disappointing that it is not going ahead. I am a local and was totally looking forward to getting behind and helping on this tour because of the awareness needed for climate change. Unfortunately I do believe that previous protests have not helped the cause because the reasons they have given is hogwash! They do have an area to separate the R/Warrior from operational areas. Yes, the Cruise ships that enter the port use this area and it is well fenced off and away from main workings of the Port. Also I dont think they are being petty but because this COULD cause issues like security and safety which means unbudgeted expense - why would you want to put your company through this. This port has provided alot of jobs, security for our community and there is always two sides to every story.

very disappointed about the cancellation of visit of Rainbow Warrior to tauranga. this is just t he port being very petty as there would be a suitable area close to the cruise ship docking wharf. no point in ringing or emailing port as no notice would be taken (probably wouldn't even get to the relevant person who made the decision.
keep up the good work!
