Following ongoing negotiations with the Lyttelton port authorities, there has been a small but significant improvement in plans for our public open days.

The key change is that there is now no need to RSVP. All those planning a visit, read on:

People are to report to the big white building (Port of Lyttelton HQ), which is situated just as you emerge from the Lyttelton tunnel. There you can register (if you haven’t already RSVPd) and then we’ll take you by bus to the ship. Buses will be running for the duration of the open days (which run from 10am – 4pm on Friday, 10am-3pm on Saturday). It is still essential to bring photo ID.

If you HAVE already RSVPd, that’s fine, just give your name at the registration desk.

See you onboard!

Jees, what a palava that all sounds at lyttleton port. The poet Dave Merrit was a friend of mine once upon a time. Big fishing trip planned for tomorrow darlin, then to Waiheke for easter. We miss you. x

It may not look like it, but it is a significant and welcome relaxation by LPC. Friends and family visiting crew on ships in Lyttelton have to have their names at the gate and produce photo Id. NZ’s Maritime Security Act owes rather more to George W’s war on terrorism than most of us would like.
