That was an excellent action that Greenpeace took. Its very sad to see that NZ is exporting and mining this coal. Many kiwis wouldn't be in tune with NZ coal exporting if media attention like this didn't exist.

Go Greenpeace you guys are Awesome :)
This action was a clever, non-violent way to display to the NZ government that they need to ACT on their climate change policies not just voice them. We all need to do our little bit to save this beautiful planet of ours. There is an American-Indian saying that goes a little like this...... 'Not until the last tree has been cut down, and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money'. I like to think we can stop ruining this planet before it's too late :)

Hi Fred, I can understand your concern about human rights and terrorism, but it is important to remember that Greenpeace works on a number of campaigns, all of which are vitally important to the future of the world. The name's not GreenPEACE for nothing. When speaking of respect for individuals, we should remember that there are a huge number of people, including myself, who find it extremely offensive that, via my tax contributions, i am forced to pay for a government owned company to export one of the most dangerous substances in the world today.

Nice work team! A fine piece of direct action - a real and tangible effort to stop climate destruction and a powerful way to draw attention to New Zealand's hypocrisy on climate change. If it wasn't for activists and activist groups like Greenpeace the world would be still be denying climate change and yet more time would be lost in the effort to actually tackle this tremendous challenge. Today was social change in action. Go you guys!

Tena koutou katoa Rainbow Warrior Captain, crew and volunteers, my heart, body and soul move with you all, also with our brothers and sisters in Greenpeace World Wide on our Papa-tuuaa-nuku aataahua / beautiful Mother Earth.

I praise you and your actions in Lyttelton , against the Governments two tongue clean New Zealand green talk….….. Let us hope that when the ship does leave, it does not hit the sewage line that Christchurrch is putting out of New Brighton or drag its anchor through Sewage line a little way north of the Ashley River….The atmosphere pollution plus the hydrosphere pollution, it is no good for our Oceans or Mother Earth. Two systems out of the five systems working on the East Coast of our humble City Christchurch on Stressing Mother Earth, is not too good, or do I really mean bad!!!!!! Clean pure seawater in liquid form and clean pure oxygen in the air, is unique to Mother Earth and so is Life.

How many other systems can you find that is Stressing our Ocean and Mother Earth here in our Humble City of Christchurch, or in the Canterbury region???

Tihe Mauri Ora / Tis the Breath of Life

Mauitikitiki ata raka!

What A LOAD OF RUBBISH !!!

Get a life and address the real issues that afflict this world - like terrorism and one on one physical abuse, violence, lack of respect for individuals , and respect for each other.

Awesome work! Mining and shipping coal is morally and ethically indefensible. If we want to harp on about being a clean green country and aspire to be carbon neutral then let’s start by riding our selves of this insidious industry. The guy who wrote the first comment needs to think about the bigger picture, the Greenpeace number is 0800 22 33 44 (feel free to ring it if you want to cancel your membership and go give the money to a feel good charity that doesn’t actually do anything)
