2009 has been a hard year for everyone, and we wouldn’t have made it without our supporters. We would like to thank you for sticking with us through the tough times, and hope you’ll be staying with us in the future. You can read the wrap-up from the Copenhagen climate summit here. World leaders walked away without a treaty that protects the climate. They’re not done yet, but neither are we so waych this space!

All thinking people around the world will be distressed with continued Japanese whaling. Your protests actions in the Antarctic are meaningful. However, there is one ‘tool’ which has not yet been used. During the Second World War, smoke was used achieving significant impact. Certain smoke recipes would not only make whale chasing impossible but would make any killed meat still on the decks unusable. The generation of smoke could be done from a little distance away and may avoid close contact. A little tear gas mixed with the smoke may have real disabling results upon the whalers. It is extremely disappointing that any extreme measures have to be considered but when any species is under threat, actions, however extreme, must be considered. While our focus is on whales please do not overlook the continuing plunder of tuna which, again, appears to headed by the Japanese. Good luck to you all – I admire your courage and commitment.
